Description: Survey from classical antiquity to the present. The education of practitioners, locations of healing, theories of health and disease, and medical practices in the context of social, economic, and political change.

Examines how cultural and ethical issues shape our understanding of illness, healing, and the patient-practitioner relationship. Encourages critical thinking about how humanistic perspectives can inform and enhance modern medical practice.

Description: Explores the impact of disease epidemics on societies throughout history, from the devastating Black Death of the Middle Ages to the global pandemic of COVID-19. Examines the causes, transmission, and effects of major disease outbreaks, including their social, economic, and political consequences, and how different cultures and societies have interpreted and responded to epidemics.
