Description: Fundamentals of music composition for visual media will be addressed, including technical and creative aspects for the preparation of distribution-ready music for use in motion pictures. Students will collaborate with producers of original films with no pre-existing music.
Description: Exploration of powerful synthesis, interface, and control capabilities of various software programs with a focus on generating and manipulating audio. This is a hands-on, practical and technical overview of practices relating to the creative use of working with digital audio useful for software-based step-sequencers, synth bass/pads, musical interfaces, and many other tools for digital media.

Description: Exploration of instrumental color and orchestral style, covering idiomatic writing for individual and groups of instruments, traditional and contemporary notational practices, and modern digital applications for score production.

Description: Development of basic professional competency in the areas of scoring and music preparation for large jazz ensembles of varying instrumentations.
