Accountancy (MPA)

Description

The Master of Professional Accountancy (M.P.A.) emphasizes the use of accounting as an analytical tool for understanding business and public affairs while preparing students for professional careers in public accounting, industry, or government.  Our mission is to inspire lifetime learning at the leading edge of Accounting education and research.

Goals and Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate effective communication skills appropriate in a business environment
a. LO – Develop and orally present a professional presentation
b. LO – Professionally write clear and concise conclusions/recommendations

2. Demonstrate technical proficiency in audit, taxation, and financial accounting
a. LO – Solve accounting problems or issues in the areas of audit, taxation and/or financial accounting
b. LO – Evaluate and present relevant information to aid in decision making

3. Demonstrate the ability to solve complex accounting issues using data
a. LO – Collect, prepare, and analyze data to support sound conclusions

4. Demonstrate an awareness of ethical issues and professional responsibilities
a. LO – Recognize and deal with ethical issues in a professional manner
